The Grant Park team aims to build relationships with families in a South Phoenix neighborhood. We spend time playing with children, teaching them from God’s Word, and getting to know the spiritual and physical needs of this community.
We encourage all RCC members to be involved in at least one of the various parts of this ministry.
CHILDREN’S BIBLE STUDY
Our Core Team meets weekly for a Children’s Bible Study where we eat together, pray, teach a Bible lesson, and do fun activities and crafts. Every week, children hear God’s word and relationships are built and strengthened. The Core Team additionally spends time with these children and their families throughout the week.
In order to foster the relationship we have with the children, we take them on various field trips about once a month. We have taken the children to the zoo, Peter Piper, the Science Center, etc. It is a great opportunity to build relationships with the families and just have fun!
On the first Saturday of every month, we have a prayer walk. We walk around the community and pray. This is a wonderful way to support the ministry.
Two or three times a year, our team hosts a picnic at Grant Park. We always need volunteers to serve at these events.
The Grant Park neighborhood is a “food desert,” which means that residents have little access to affordable and fresh food. Gas stations and liquor stores are the only nearby sources for groceries. By working with neighbors and other community partners, we grow food, create beauty and promote health in the Grant Park neighborhood. Work days and other community gatherings are held throughout the year. Email Mary Cho-Thompson at email@example.com for more information.
