INTRODUCING CHRYSTAL!

Mar 6, 2020

As noted in a recent Roosevelt e-newsletter, “Chrystal Stewart has been working with John Talley III as our music and worship administrator since March of 2019. Starting this year, she will be our new Music and Worship Director!” If you haven’t met her yet, here’s a little profile. (Jennifer wants to hear more about Lyle Lovett.)

Chrystal Stewart is a native of Phoenix and spent most of her life in South Phoenix. She is the founder and creator of a program called Be YOUnique which is a 9-month program that empowers individuals to live on purpose for a purpose. Chrystal is the mother of 3 extraordinary children (Josiah, Micaiah, and Kaira) who fill her heart with joy each and every day. She loves connecting with people and enjoys following the rhythms of God’s heart for social reform, the broken, the marginalized, and the lost.

In Spring 2019, Chrystal hosted a sold-out event, Be YOUnique’s Hopeful Realism: Night of the Arts. This was an evening filled with hope and wisdom shared through music, poetry, and stories of people’s life journies. The launch event highlighted a variety of talented men and women through their poetry, art, music, and stories by a host of speakers.

Chrystal loves sharing her story of how her faith in God has grounded her in the most difficult seasons in her life. Everywhere she is invited as a guest speaker, she encourages her audience to OWN IT, LOVE IT, and LIVE IT—which is simply a message that anything we experience in life can be turned into a passion that can help others. She often shares a song that she wrote called Inside Cry that is currently being recorded.

Chrystal uses her God-given talent to sing and spread God’s message of hope, love, and redemption. She has had the great privilege of traveling around the world singing in countries like Belgium, Holland, France, and others. Throughout her singing career, Chrystal has shared the stage with many artists such as Faith Evans and Kirk Franklin, and she has sung back up for Puff Daddy and Lyle Lovett. She has a love and excitement to use her voice to transcend language barriers, and she loves writing music that speaks of the glory of God and His rescuing power.

Chrystal spent two years studying classical music at Arizona Christian University, where she learned to appreciate all genres of music. Among her love for family and music, she loves the Word of God and the vast ways to interpret His message of love.

Chrystal is currently the Director of the Kids Outreach Program at Neighborhood Ministries, which serves close to 600 inner-city youth citywide.
